Be the change you want to see in the world

Home Diary 2009 1st Race for 2009
1st Race for 2009

My training has been going very well up until now, with my legs feeling quite good considering the substantial miles we've been clocking up. But now my training has changed from long medium paced rides, to shorter and more intense rides.

Today was my first interval session for 2009, doing a basic set of 10x3minute climbs up a steep climb. It's hard to come to terms with doing 10 of these climbs, but once you reach your 5th climb effort you realise you're halfway there!

Discussions with prospective team Konica Minolta have also drawn to a crawl, as now the team is full of older, and more experienced riders. Needless to say I am remaining in contact with the team, and still hope to follow through with some other offers such as accomodation in a communal house. But talks between myself and Olympic Cycling have had some promising developments. But it still leaves me where I started... No ride for 2009, but plenty of helping hands. I'm sure I'll break through somewhere, but until then it's the same uphill battle I started at the beginning of 2008!

More news once I do my first race this weekend too; you'll see in my Race Calendar that I'm doing the 'Hyper to Hyper" a.k.a "The Fast one"... Enough said. It's about 100km long with no real climbs. I'll have to ride carefully, as everyone will have the pre race jitters after having not raced for over 2months! Plenty of opportunity for crashes, so I'll keep my eyes open.

Happy Riding!
