It's admittedly been longer than usual since I last had the time to sit down and update my site, and more importantly keep you updated. But there's no lacking news, that's for sure...
Since my last update, things have slowed down a little. Which makes it 'nice' - being able to take baby steps, and giving me the time to refocus on what I want to do for the rest of my year. And refocus is exactly what I've done. With a change in circumstances, I now have all the time in the world to train, and work in the afternoon. No more 5am wake-up for a piddly 2hr group ride in the rain, going 30km/h. Why, I hear you ask... Well simply because I no longer work at The Freedom Machine in Port Melbourne. Due to "unforseen financial circumstances" I have been retrenched. This simply means I'll take my enthusiasm elsewhere. In fact, it's forced me to reconsider my goals. I was shocked at how easily I'd lost focus on my primary objectives, and been sucked slowly into working alomost full time. This isn't a bad thing, losing my spot at what was quite an enjoyable place to work. Sometimes, forced change is surprisingly fun. Riding wise, which will now come at the top of the paragraph; and I have a new bike courtesy of my absolutely amazing Dad (biggest sponsor to date), and The Freedom Machine in Prahran. The guys there did a fantastic job, stripping down a Giant TCR Advanced 2, and building my Bianchi componentry onto it. Now I'm sitting here, flirtaciously glancing at a Giant TCR Advanced 2 - fully modified, of course! Specifications List: Giant TCR Advanced 2 Carbon Frameset and Fork Shimano Dura Ace Groupset Shimano Carbon Laminate Wheelset Giant Connect Bars, Stem and Seatpost Fi:zi;k Arione Saddle Garmin Edge 500 GPS unit And as an added extra, I got a set of Mavic Aksium wheels, renowned for being super heavy. (Perfect for training). NOW... I also had my Media Pass Acreditation approved by the Union Cycliste Internationale ( UCI) for the 2010 Cycling World Championships, to be held in Geelong, Victoria. This means that instead of watching it on TV, I will actually be there, with the Cyclingtribe.com crew. My goal will be to stay calm, and from there on I plan to take photos or interview riders or just follow my "Boss" or Mentor, Jarrod Partridge around - and learn all I can. Plan B will be to scream with excitement, and then regain composure and follow the above. Either way, I can't wait. Well I'm now off to some Core Training with the amazing lady at Dare to Live personal training. From there, it's home and possibly to the movies tonight with a good mate of mine for some bromance. Tomorrow I hope to ride my new bike before I head out to the Chiropractor to try and isolate some back issues I've had since my Tour of Gippsland crash. I thought it was something minor, and I tried to ignore it, but I think I'd best check it out. Oh... and keep an eye out for my Races Calendar - without working full time I can now actually take part! I'll be revising my race calendar within the next week, and will publish it for interests sake. And if I really feel the urge, I may ask Ambion Web Design and Hosting to help me change a few things on my site. Hmmm... give me some time on that one. That is all... |
