It's been close to a month since I hurt my knee training on Barrengary Mountain - a month filled with doctors appointments, X-rays, and little riding. But what have I gained from this whole experience? Quite a lot actually...

Not having been able to ride, I've started focusing on my upper body a bit more. Well, a lot more to be honest! Something that took 'too much time' after a ride is now all that I've been able to do consistently - gym.

Starting off small, I only did core work using one of those ridiculous looking 'gym balls'. What at first was a joke soon turned into some serious muslce pain in my chest, back and shoulders. I couldn't believe how weak I actually was. A good few weeks down the track, and my program now has core, as well as a gym section. I've been trying to do sessions daily, if not every second day. Doing more repetitions than anything else, my upper body fitness has notably improved, yet I've gained little weight in the process (something I wouldn't want) So it's all working out.

With regards to cycling - well that changes by the day. I've had 2 days of riding after a week of no riding whatsoever. My knee is tender, but it's manageable... Fingers crossed for Tuesday when I see my specialist.
