The title says it all, and that's just how I want it... I've just crossed halfway point in my Belgian stay and unlike a race - where you want to finish - in this instance I don't want it to finish. I wish I could rewind and start all over again. But if you could do that then you wouldn't cherish the value of a moment, would you?
I've gained so much since I've been here and in saying this, I hope to gain just as much during the remainder of my stay! I'm happy that I've kept my focus and haven't lost motivation during the rough patches or wished I was anywhere else. All good signs when the cards are on the table to make this my career... Speaking of which, my biggest gain has been the networking side of things. In my opinion as an athlete of any kind, this is one of the most important things to keep tabs on. To "put your feelers out" as a close friend and mentor would say to me very often! I've met several people here while I've been at races and haven't succeeded in connecting with all of them, but hopefully one day I can fall back on these people and go from there... Who knows? Otherwise, just getting my legs back after a lengthy week in bed. I entered a small race today to gauge my ability so that I can see what needs work, when I train. And after today I know I need a few intensity sessions to get my legs back before my next race - planning on slipping into top 20 as I'm currently 2 positions out of the top 20... a claim I hope to change soon. |
