2011 Tour of Gippsland

The 2011 Natational Road series has already commenced, with points being offered in past events such as the Canberra Tour, and Tour of Toowoomba. However, these events seem to fly a little under the radar - compared to events such as the Lakes Oil Tour of Gippsland. This first major tour of the year rolls out on July 27th, but already there's an increasing interest in the race route...

 

 

The route will take riders through a number of regional centres of the Gippsland region, including the Bass Coast, Baw Baw and Wellington. With variety in mind, race organiser  Caribou Publications tried to include ''as many challenges for the riders as possible''. The event will unfold as shown below;

 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 27: Bass Coast

30 laps of a 1.1km town circuit,    Start: 11.00 a.m.

Via Cape Paterson, Inverloch,      Start:   2.15 p.m.

The event was born in 2005, and since then has been held in high regard within the Australian cycling fraternity. With big names of cycling having succeeded in this very event, it's no wonder there are over 150 national level competitors lining up to give it their all.
